WHAT IS A VENEER SHREDDER?
Veneer is typically a thin decorative covering of fine wood applied to a coarser wood. The machine that is used to shred these veneers are known as veneer shredding machine or typically veneer shredders. These machines are especially designed for chopping and grinding of veneer wood. Moreover, veneer waste resource may come in different shapes and sizes to the finest powder. Throughputs typically range between 300kg/hr. to 15,000kg/hr. depending on the model, material type and application. These machines are good in controlling and changing shredded particle output size.The discharge grate or screen may be fixed at the bottom half of shredder for getting desired output sizes.
TYPES OF VENEER SHREDDERS
Single shaft shredders
Single-shaft shredders come with a rotor (cutting system) which is equipped with special rotor Knifes. These Knives cut the material that is pushed horizontally towards the rotor by a hydraulic ram.Depending on the application, the size of the screen hole can vary. Feeding single-shaft shredders can either be vertical using a hopper or horizontalwith a vibrating chute.
Dual shaft shredders
Two shaft shredders are used for applications that require a broad range of sizes and can be used as final processing or pre-processing prior to grinding or refining. Dual shaft shredders use two cutting shafts to provide finite size reduction for applications that do not require small, precision reductions. High performance blades provide efficient cutting, minimizing multiple passes through the shredder. These shredders can be integrated with pre- and post-shredding separators and grinders or refiners for further processing.
Four shaft shredders
The feeding of four-shaft shredders takes place vertically via the hopper. In contrast to twin-shaft shredders, four-shaft shredders can be equipped with a screen. This leads to a homogenous fraction size. The material is powerfully torn and shredded by the talons of the cuttings discs, then pressed through the cut grooves of the clearing discs and finally discharged through a screen which is mounted underneath the cuttings discs.
SELECTION OF VENEER SHREDDERS
Veneer shredders can be selected based on the following criteria:
The reduction ratio refers to the amount of organic material that will be reduced after going through the machine. The reduction ratio should not be misinterpreted for power.
Number of Blades
A machine will run more efficiently with a high number of blades. Having more blades can also take stress off the engine and increase the longevity of the machine.
Some shredder models come with a vacuum attachment that can make cleaning up yard waste less time-consuming.
