A rapid radial drilling machine is a step up from the conventional radial drilling machine, which is based on the table or pillar drilling machine. Just like simple table drilling machines, radial drilling machines are known for their high level of repeat accuracy and ability to create straight, accurate holes in clamped-down raw material. In addition to the entire boom being able to pivot, rapid radial drilling machines have a particularly high rotation speed, quick feed and high level of machine stability. Rapid radial drilling machines also allow for particularly efficient production of hole templates in resistant material.
Rapid radial drilling machines are generally used in areas of mechanical engineering, where conventional radial drilling machines can no longer be efficiently used. Radial rapid drilling machines are manually operated machines, which are not so suitable for series production. Just like radial drilling machines, the workpieces need to be well clamped in. The production of individual pieces or small series components can be very efficiently undertaken on these machines. They are usually only used in special facilities, as they require much higher costs than their conventional counterparts.
The basic structure of a rapid radial drilling machine consists of a pillar with a round cross-section. This pillar has a cantilever arm attached to it, whose height can be adjusted. The drilling machines is then attached to this arm. The workpiece is attached to a separate work table. The drilling machine can be moved up and down, and also backwards and forwards along the boom. The boom can pivot, which means that the drilling machine can reach all areas of the workpiece.
Rapid radial drilling machines are made as mid-sized industrial drilling machines. In addition to the extensive adjustment possibilities to the drilling tool, rapid radial drilling machines can also be equipped with cooling lubricant. Rapid radial drilling machines are more stable than normal radial drilling machines, and are just as sensitive to misuse. The cutting and lifting power, which is created during the process, is the same as that that occurs on conventional machines.
Since rapid radial drilling machines are cutting machines, they need to be regularly cleaned.
