The JOHN DEERE Model D is one of the early 20th century models of tractor from JOHN DEERE belonging to the two cylinder Letter Series of standard tread tractor. It was one of the longest runs of any model of JOHN DEERE tractor and was manufactured between 1939 and July the 3rd, 1953 in Waterloo, Iowa. It followed directly on from the JOHN DEERE Unstyled D which was produced from March the 1st, 1923 to 1939. The previous model was the Waterloo Boy N, the production of which overlapped a little with the D JOHN DEERE model. The JOHN DEERE D tractor was produced with a 2 wheel drive chassis and manual steering. It has integral mechanical brakes and the operator sits on a steel pan seat in an open station.
