The JOHN DEERE 3020 tractor was part of the New Generation series, which produced a new wave of tractor models in the 1960s and 1970s. Operators who buy JOHN DEERE 3020 row-crop tractors may be looking for a larger alternative to the JOHN DEERE 2020.
JOHN DEERE 3020 Production History
The JOHN DEERE 3020 is nearly identical to its predecessor, the 3010. Production began in 1964 and continued until 1972. Throughout its production run, minor changes were made including shifting the hydraulic levels from the left dashboard to a console on the operator's right side. A longer gear shift lever was also installed. An industrial version with a yellow rather than green colour scheme, the JOHN DEERE 500, was made between 1964 and 1969. The 3020 JOHN DEERE tractor was made in Waterloo, Iowa in the United States and in Mexico.
JOHN DEERE 3020 Specs
Versions of the 3020 built between 1964 and 1968 have a 3.7-litre gasoline, 4.4-litre diesel or 3.7-litre LP gas engine. Tractors made from 1969 to 1972 feature a 3.9-litre gasoline, 4.4-litre diesel engines or 3.9-litre LP gas engine. All of the four-cylinder JOHN DEERE engines are liquid cooled. JOHN DEERE 3020 specs on later models include larger spark-ignition engines on gasoline and LP gas models and reconfigured hydraulic controls.
Certain 3020 JOHN DEERE tractors feature partially synchronised Syncro-Range transmission with eight forward and two reverse gears. Others are kitted with full Powershift transmission with eight forward and four reverse gears. While the Syncro-Range version features a dry disc clutch, the Powershift model has a hydraulic wet disc clutch.
