An electric fork lift is an emission-free industrial truck used indoors for transporting loads of all kinds of pallets. Electric forklifts are characterised through their quiet operation. Up until a few years ago, they were still restricted in their capacity. However, today this form of forklift is available in all sizes. Electric forklift second hand market! The largest selection of used electric forklifts online from top auction houses, sellers and best manufacturers. Buy your electric forklift from the sale list below from manufacturers like Clark, Nissan, Toyota, Jungheinrich, etc. at affordable prices.
An electric forklift consists of a lifting unit, a motor, a control unit and a loading station. They are powered by an electric motor and the energy comes from a rechargeable battery. The electric motor drives the wheels and operates the pump for the hydraulic system. Just like other forklifts, the lifting unit of an electric type is hydraulically operated. This gives the truck its great lifting power. Electric fork lifts are commonly very compact. These means that they are particularly flexible and can drive along very tight corridors. Due to their compact structure, the centre of gravity of the truck lies along the axes, even when the load is lifted. Therefore, the counterweight, which is usually required for forklifts, can be very small. Part of the counterweight for large electric machines used outdoors is made up of the rechargeable battery. This clever design and use of a small counterweight means that the forklift has a sufficiently long period of operation. Most electric fork lifts are equipped with permanently installed rechargeable batteries. After they are used, they need to be attached to the loading station for several hours and cannot be used for operation during this time. Modern forklifts require high capacity batteries and have an energy recovery system. When the brakes are used, this system feeds power back into the battery. This means that these forklifts can operate for up to 26 hours; they can be applied in most situations. Replaceable battery systems have not yet been implemented into electric lift trucks. Like all other forklifts, they are driven and steered using the back wheels, making them very flexible. With small electric forklifts (e.g. reach trucks), the steering and driving wheels are particularly close to one another. Many manufacturers such as Nissan Forklift, Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks, Toyota Industrial Equip., CAT Lift Trucks, Jungheinrich, Hyundai Heavy Industrial Europe, Linde Material Handling and Crown offer three wheeled forklifts. These allow for the trucks to undertake particularly tight turns. However, this also means that they are more likely to tip over.
The smallest types are hand-operated machines that are used to assist operations. As a type of electrical extension of the pallet truck, they do not contain a driver’s seat. When using an electric pallet truck, the operator can move heavy pallets, boxes and crates and needs to walk alongside the machine. This truck is very compact and can be operated by all workers after basic briefing. These are differentiated between electric low-lift and high-lift pallet trucks. Low-lift pallet trucks can only lift and transport loads from the floor. High-lift trucks are fitted with an additional lifting mast. This is used to lift loads and stack them on top of one another, or on shelves. The smallest types of electric forklifts are reach trucks. They are so compact that they do not require a counterweight. Their front wheels are located next to the fork, which means that the load is located along the motor’s axis. These designs do not require a counterweight because their centre of gravity never lies outside the point of support of the driving wheel. Due to their particularly long lifting masts, these reach trucks are also sometimes called “high-lift reach trucks”. The height of the mast can easily reach 10 metres or more and are very popular devices for dispatch centres. The next biggest category is the counterweight electric forklift. These are available in a large variety of sizes and capacities. The driver’s cab is located in between the counterweight and the lifting mast. They are available as very compact trucks for indoor use, as very large forklifts for outdoor use and as everything in between. The choice of forklifts is usually supplemented with a variety of special trucks and constructions. Established manufacturers provide a large choice of special trucks. The company Rudolf Maxein produces forklifts designed to fit customer requirements.
Electric forklifts are implemented where there is particular demand for an emissions-free and quiet operation. They are characteristically emissions-free and provide a noise-free operation. This means that working with them is very easy. However, due to their quiet operation, they can be dangerous for other co-workers. Contrary to the noise of combustion engines, one can easily miss the low hum of an electric forklift. Working with an electric forklift is somewhat easier than a forklift powered by a combustion engine because the latter needs to be monitored daily, particularly its oil and coolant levels. Any damage to the motor usually incurs economic damage equivalent to the entire forklift. This is not a concern with this types of forklifts; the operator only needs to monitor the battery to ensure that it is charged. For forklifts without a cab, operators only require a briefing by a safety specialist. For most companies, in-house training for operators wanting to use reach trucks is sufficient. However, a valid forklift license is required to operate forklifts with a counterweight. Forklifts are highly efficient machines, which if operated unprofessionally, can pose danger to humans, machines and materials. A two-day training programme can teach a worker the necessary skills to safely operate a forklift. In particularly tight work spaces of an industrial hall or high-shelf storage areas, it is important that the operator has very good knowledge of the outer edges of the truck. Driving a forklift is relatively simple, but they should be driven with respect and care.
